Swimming through debt

Hi and welcome to my blog!  My name is Sam (well, Samantha, but who has time for all those syllables?).  I am the mother of three young children (Tristan who is 5, Gabriel who is 3, and Brighton who is almost 2), and wife to my wonderful husband of five years, Nick.  I am a stay-at-home / work-from-home mom living through the chaos of young children, trying to balance having a life with dealing with the reality of finances.

Like so many people these days, my family is swimming through a sea of debt.  I refuse to say drowning - drowning is giving up, and we are far from that!  Our journey into debt is the same as many others.  We spent too much, saved too little, faced job loss and a tanking economy, and now we are working our way to the other side - FREEDOM!

What can you expect?
The intention of this blog to expose the reality of living through debt.  We are going for full transparency of our debt load, our budget, our challenges and triumphs, and life in general.  I am not going to sugar coat or make things look better or worse than they are.  I know that we are not the only ones going through these financially difficult times, but I sure know that it feels that way sometimes!  I will share our meal plans, receipts, spending plans - full disclosure here!

I am not a financial expert by a long shot (that's why we're in this mess in the first place!), nor am I a professional writer.  I'm just another mom, trying to make it in this crazy world.

I hope that you'll share a comment to say "hi" and let me know what you'd like to see on the blog!  Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for sharing your challenge with the rest of us. I am adopting your attitude of swimming versus drowning in the hopes that the positive approach might inspire me to face my own financial challenges instead of hiding from them. I look forward to reading more!
